Son Xoriguer
Platja de Son Xoriguer is situated at 12 kilometres from Ciutadella, located between Punta de sa Guarda and Titina, as well as next to the village with the same name and next to the residential village of Cala en Bosc. These two urban areas contribute to the fact that Ciutadella is the menorcan municipality with the most important touristy activity, because it has more that half of the hotel places of the island. This sea inlet is characterized by the shape of a shell, it is not very big, the beach is sandy on the left side, the rest is covered by rocks. It is exposed to the winds from the south-southwest-west and a gentle breeze. The water is quiet, the slope is gentle, there are some emerging reefs next to the beach. It has a sandy ground with seaweed, and it is very crowded by local visitors and tourists, and lots of families. The navigator should know that if he wishes to anchor in this bay, in the external part of the entrance there are some reefs known as na Cap de Porc. In the proximity of this cove there is Cap d'Artrutx, the south westernmost area of Menorca, and the one which is the closest to Majorca, with a lighthouse at 45 metres above the sea level and which reaches 19 nautical miles. The accessibility by car is easy following the signs and the deviations. The private car can be left on a free parking area in the surroundings. You can also reach this beach with the public transport. When the beach has a lifeguard service, you must follow the lifeguards’ instructions and the warnings on flags. A red flag indicates dangerous swimming conditions and means that swimming is not permitted. A yellow flag indicates that precaution must be taken, but that swimming is permitted. A green flag indicates that swimming is permitted. An orange flag is used to indicate that the lifeguard is absent. Act cautiously when no lifeguard is present or the service is not available and enjoy the beach without taking any unnecessary risks. For health and safety reasons, the municipal ordinances ban pets on beaches. This beach has received the 14001 environmental certification. Information about this beach may change.
