Cala Codolà or Cala Codolar is situated at three kilometres from Pilar de la Mola, located between Punta de sa Ruda and Penyal d'en Joan Jai. In this part of the Àrea Natural d'Especial Interès de la Mola (1.107 hectares) nudism is normal and the influx of visitors is low because of the difficult accessibility.
This spectacular sea entrance is quite small and is open to the Mediterranean Sea, surrounded by some high, vertical, abrupt and steep cliffs, with pine trees on the top.
These cliffs are part of the most eastern area of the island, la Mola (192 metres above the sea level), where you can see Punta de sa Xindria, where the lighthouse of Formentera or de la Mila was built (118 metres above the sea level). The french writer Jules Verne was inspired by this place to write his novel Hector Servadac (1877).
We really recommend you to visit la Mola. From the top you will have the best panoramic view over the island. In the surroundings you will find Molí Vell de la Mola, a windmill for flour which is perfectly preserved.
It was built in 1778. It was the first construction of this type which started to work in la Mola and the only one that is still preserved nowadays. It was closed in 1964 due to the competition of the electric flour infrastructures.
When the beach has a lifeguard service, you must follow the lifeguards? instructions and the warnings on flags. A red flag indicates dangerous swimming conditions and means that swimming is not permitted. A yellow flag indicates that precaution must be taken, but that swimming is permitted. A green flag indicates that swimming is permitted. An orange flag is used to indicate that the lifeguard is absent. Act cautiously when no lifeguard is present or the service is not available and enjoy the beach without taking any unnecessary risks.
For health and safety reasons, the municipal ordinances ban pets on beaches.
